It's been a while since my last post. In the past few days I was cycling 450km from San Luis to El Sosneado, via San Rafael and El Nihuil. Most of the time, I had very poor or no network service. And also, there wasn't much to see, vast nothingness. Except for yesterday, when I passed by this beautiful water reserve at Valle Grande. This dam is situated in the Canyon Atuel, an amazing landscape south of San Rafael, in the province of Mendoza. #vallegrande #embalsevallegrande #embalse #bikepacking #cycling #cicloturismo #cicloviaje #radreise

Apart from all the highlights that nature and bigger cities provide to bikepackers, hopping from one tiny village to another also becomes a big part of your trip. Spending the night at bomberos like last night or just at a park like this one might not be extra special but you get to know the people and country really well. Yesterday's tour from Villa General Belgrano to Lutti was one of the most beautiful and also one of the most exhausting bike rides. The landscape of the Sierras de Córdoba gets more and more stunning the higher you climb. But the highlight of the day actually happened shortly before this picture was taken: A puma jumped out of the bushes and ran across the road, right in front of me. Very elegantly and very fastly, it disappeared in the mountains on the other side of the road. I later talked to one of the locals when asking for water and he said he also sees them occasionally, but only a few times per year.
