As the new year begins, I am closing my cycling related fundraising event. Through my cycling and all your incredibly generous donations, a total of 17.800 Euros could be generated. I already transformed some if it into water in November, the remainder will go into projects in Cameroon that I am planning for this year. However, it is of course still possible to donate more as water is constantly needed and more wells are waiting to be constructed. Therefore, you can find a new donation link on my website - it is just my cycling related fundraising event that is now terminated. For all your support in the past year and in the future, I want to thank each and everyone of you. You can be sure that I keep on doing what I do and that you will hear from me. Last Thursday, 90 people came to listen to me talk about my cycling trip and water projects for two hours. Very glad so many people showed up and I hope you had a good time. Also a big thank you for more donations! As there was no entrance fee, people could donate instead and another 550€ came together. Money that will go straight into my next water projects! Final touches have been made and the concrete is now drying out! After the pump and water testing at the end of this week, it is good to use and will provide roughly 2 cubic metres per hour. As this project is coming to an end, I want to once again thank all donours that supported during my cycling trip and after. You were all so generous and this well is all yours. Feel free to travel to Uganda and have a look at it yourself, I gladly send you the GPS coordinates. Btw, this is only the first half of the donation money, so another well will be implemented in Cameroon next year. After flushing the borehole, we installed the handpump. Pipes of stainless steel were connected one by one to a depth of 24 metres with the first one carrying the actual pump. Before, we had measured how high the water had risen in the pipes. I was the first to test it and it pumps really smoothly! #busia #uganda #busiadistrict #globalh2o #well #borehole #handpump

What a moment...masses of water splashing out of the ground 😀 To rinse out most of the mud inside the borehole, a hose is pushed all the way down through the pipes. After connecting it to a compressor, it blows out the water that has already entered and with it a lot of dirt. This procedure was done for about 40 minutes and believe me I couldn't take my eyes of this scenery and enjoyed every second of it. #busia #busiadistrict #uganda #drilling #drillingforwater #globalh2o #water

After the borehole reaches its depth, the drilling pipes are replaced by blue plastic pipes. Those will remain in the borehole. Through small slots in the blue pipes and added gravel all around it, the water is filtered and can gather inside the pipes. #drilling #drillingforwater #busia #busiadistrict #uganda #globalh2o
